Job Description – MHPSS Counsellor
The MHPSS Counsellor will play a key role in delivering mental health and psychosocial support services within IRC health facilities and communities. The role includes individual and group counselling, community engagement, awareness programs, and coordination with mental health teams and stakeholders.
General Responsibilities

Deliver individual and group counselling sessions in line with IRC integrated approaches

Conduct psychosocial activities, awareness programs, and community mobilization

Support MHPSS Supervisor in trainings, workshops, and program activities

Assist in developing promotional and educational materials

Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports

Participate in preventive MHPSS interventions at PHC and community level

Coordinate referrals and follow up on cases

Engage in data collection, surveys, and assessments

Participate in meetings, trainings, and internal coordination activities
Specific Responsibilities
Provide MHPSS Support In PHC Settings:

Deliver consultations for individuals and groups

Identify psychosocial needs and suggest relevant interventions

Report weekly activities and maintain data records

Coordinate with supervisors for complex cases
Provide Psychosocial Support For Mental Health Beneficiaries:

Develop treatment plans in collaboration with supervisors

Use community-based approaches to support target groups
Community Mental Health Interventions:

Promote culturally appropriate mental health approaches

Facilitate awareness, knowledge sharing, and self-care practices

Conduct group-based interventions
Risk Identification & Reduction:

Identify risk factors affecting mental health in communities

Coordinate with stakeholders to address risks
Job Requirements

Degree In Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, Nursing, Midwifery, Or Related Field

1–2 Years Of Relevant Professional Experience

Experience In Humanitarian Or MHPSS Programs Is An Advantage

Strong Communication And Facilitation Skills

Ability To Work In Multicultural Environments

Proficiency In Pashto, Dari; English Is An Advantage

Good Reporting And Documentation Skills
